Ladies of Letterpress Postcard Swap

September 15, 2010

Recently we were part of a project with the lovely Ladies of Letterpress: a postcard swap! (Many thanks to Camille Robin for the great idea.) We wanted to play a little with the fact that Paper Boat Studios works out of two locations…separated by time and distance but still fitting together somehow. Here’s what we came up with:

Looking East

Wish you were here!

I’m not sure how much I like the fact that I’m the one talking “at” Amy over there in St. Louis, but maybe that’s my usual role! The back of each of the postcards is the same: it has our logo and the classic “wish you were here”—a sentiment the two of us share on a regular basis. The design of the postcard is unusual for our shop but seemed to fit well on the old timey postcard and with the project as a whole. Oh, one last thing: the red string connecting our tin cans follows the historical Oregon Trail—the first direct route from St. Louis to Portland!

I’m looking forward to seeing what cards everyone else in the project designed as well as all the different places ladies are keeping the art of letterpress alive. I’ll be sure to post some of my favorites when they arrive. Stay tuned until then…

Love this! And you two totally dress like this, right?

I also “wish you were here”. Seriously.
